The first man in space

On May 5th, 1961, Alan Shepard, was the first American in space. This year represents the 60th anniversary of his being in space. 1961 was very important in terms of the space race where America was competing with the soviet union to see who could conquer space the fastest. This was a huge accomplishment to not only NASA but the United States. It was the foundation of many future space-related things such as landing on the moon and sending rovers to Mars. It is a great honor so let us celebrate the 60th anniversary of Alan Shepard’s journey to space.
